Five most modern electric bicycles were procured and a tourist map with unique MTB routes was made. In order to improve and enhance the tourist offer of Herceg Novi, and a different and better accessibility of the cultural and natural heritage of its hinterland, the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi (TOHN) has acquired five electric bicycles (E-MTB) within the cross-border project "Cycling Rural" use on all surfaces (asphalt, macadam, "off road"). The value of the purchased bicycles is € 7,499, and their maximum range with a full battery is as much as 140 km. In addition, in accordance with the needs and with the aim of discovering attractive and not yet integrated mountain hinterland routes into a unique tourist product, and promotion of cultural and natural heritage in the rural part of Herceg Novi, a brochure / map was made, showing routes suitable for MTB. Three unique routes were promoted: “Salty and Sweet” (which starts on the sea shore and ends at Orjen pond - a lake with a diameter of 30 meters, the largest body of water on Orjen); "Boka Bay View" (which includes parts of Kamen and Mokrin, which offer an unforgettable view of Boka), and "Rocks and Trees" (which leads from Vrbanj to Vučji dol and Žukovica, places with the remains of old katuns). QR codes have been created for these routes, which are placed on the brochure / map, and which link to the TOHN page where you can find more information about the trails and cultural and natural attractions along them.
TOHN has donated bicycles to the hotel and marina "Lazure", located at the beginning of the route "Salty and Sweet", which seeks to improve its own tourist offer through active adventure and cultural activities, which complements the goal of the project "Cycling Rural". come from markets that prefer active holidays, and the hotel itself has the capacity to maintain the required maintenance of such electric bicycles.Therefore, the location in front of this facility was rated as the best for positioning bicycles for use.This hotel will also promote MTB routes processed in the promotional The project "Cycling routes for the improvement of natural and cultural heritage of Herzegovina and Montenegro - Cycling Rural" is being implemented within the second call of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program BiH - Montenegro.Implementation began on October 1, 2019 and will last 24 months. the value is 495,000 euros, of which the European Union has provided 400,000 euros in grants funds, all with the aim of strengthening and improving the quality of the tourist offer, and the development and promotion of cycling and other outdoor offers in rural areas of the cross-border regions of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is expected to result in the creation of a new brand "Cycling Rural", which will become part of the tourist offer of both countries and the Adriatic hinterland. The project partners are the Office of the Government of the West Herzegovina County for European Integration as the project holder, the cities of Široki Brijeg and Ljubuški, the municipalities of Posušje and Grude, and the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi.
