In order to diversify and improve the tourist offer of Herceg Novi and raise the attractiveness of cultural and natural heritage of the hinterland through the improvement of outdoor facilities in rural areas of the city, Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi (TOHN) has contracted part of the macadam route "Salty and Sweet", in the heart of Orjen.
Also, it was agreed to replace the old and install new mtb signalization on three unique montbike routes (Salty and Sweet, Boka Bay View, Rocks and Trees), as well as install 6 new info boards with mtb map of the hinterland and description of attractions on the trails. The construction of 2 lookouts is planned at 1400-1500 m above sea level. in accordance with high environmental standards and examples of good practice for this type of facilities applied in national parks and nature parks. Selected locations offer a view of the slopes of the Orjen Massif, the serpentines of the Austrian road and Boka.
The formation of lookouts provides a resting place on the mtb route "Salty and Sweet", intended for hikers, cyclists, mountaineers and nature lovers. Only natural materials will be used to equip the rest area and form trails and plateaus - wood and stone from the site. Through the replacement of the old and the installation of the new mtb signalization, the worn-out metal poles along the routes will be removed and the new wooden ones will be installed, with appropriate signposts and pictograms. Wooden info boards with an mtb map of the hinterland and a description of the attractions will be placed at 6 selected locations along the three promoted cycling routes. The deadline for completion of works is 31.08.2021.
