In order to diversify and improve the tourism offer of Herceg Novi, and to increase the visibility of already recognized city attractions for the youngest target groups, the Tourism Organization of Herceg Novi (TOHN) has, thanks to the support of the European Union as part of the "Wonder" project, started the reconstruction of the ruined children's playground in Park Leopold Mandica.
Enhancing the city center with attractive content for children to stay outdoors will increase the attractiveness of the micro-location and stimulate visits by the children's population and the old city center. In this way, the youngest guests, together with their "little" hosts from Novi, could explore and get to know the cultural heritage, history, and traditions of Herceg Novi through games and fun, which would lead to a clearer recognition of the city as a destination suitable for children.
Considering the needs, and in accordance with the European safety standard for this type of equipment, the dimensions of the existing playground will be expanded by 2-3 m to the south, and instead of the current several metal ones, one wooden combined element with a roof/house, swing, slide, and the net will be installed. and rock climbing. The device is specialized for use on public surfaces, and the field will be additionally provided with a rubber surface. The tree located in the work zone will be protected in accordance with the rules of the profession.
All activities as part of the reconstruction of the playgrounds take place according to the dynamic plan of the Wonder I project and will be completed by July 15.
The dimensions of the playground are 880x310x400 and 7 to 8 children will be able to use it in the same time interval. The technical documentation for the proposal for the reconstruction of the children's playground was made in cooperation with the Agency for Construction and Development of Herceg Novi, at the initiative of the Herceg Novi Municipality, and based on the approval issued by the Municipal Secretariat for Communal Activities, Ecology and Energy Efficiency.
This is another in a series of activities that the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi implements through the EU project Wonder in order to recognize the destination as suitable for children and families. The project was approved in 2019 as part of the Adrion program and will officially last until January 31, 2023.
