It will be on October 20th at 7 pm in the "Josip Bepo Benković" gallery
an open exhibition of paintings by the great painter and pedagogue Mato Đuranović.
A selection from the opus of this artist, whose work is rich, will be exhibited
and stylistically diverse. The day of the city of Herceg Novi met with the jubilee of th artists birth, which seemed an exceptional opportunity for the people of Novi to refresh their memory with the works of this artist.
Mato Đuranović was born in Đurići (Boka Kotorska) in 1895.He finished elementary school in Đurići and high school (preparandija) in Zadar. From the 1920, he lived in Galveston (USA), where he actively worked on his painting education. He graduated from the High School of Art in New York.
In 1934 he returned to the Bay of Kotor, where he lived, worked as an art pedagogue and he actively painted until his death in 1973. He won prizes for drawing New York, gold medals for canvas (Per aspera ad astra), July 13 awards, awards of the art salon 13. November Cetinje and October
awards of the city of Herceg-Novi.
Mato Đuranović is the artist about whom it is written, and his painting is stylistic
belongs to Moderna.
