At the beginning of the evening, the audience will be addressed, on behalf of the founder of the Library, by the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katic. In the continuation of the program, the acting Director, Nevenka Mitrović, librarian advisor, will present the history and activities of the Library.The Herceg Novi Library inherits the tradition of the oldest library in this area, the Serbian Reading Room, founded in 1850, and has existed as a public library since 1949. We will present the results of the seventy-year work of the Library through a presentation richly illustrated with photo and video material. Today, the City Library is dedicated to implementing the mission of the public library, "local gate of knowledge", openness to all users - citizens of Herceg Novi, constant improvement of existing and introduction of new user services, continuous training of professional staff and application of good practice of reputable libraries.The results of the work, the increase in the number of users, especially children and youth, the positive assessments of the professional public and the registry office of the National Library of Montenegro and the professional award "Dr Simo Martinović" confirm that the Herceg Novi library has been successfully transformed into a modern cultural and information platform. .
