World Tourism Day is celebrated on this day, September 27, this year with the theme - Tourism and Rural Development-.
Although it catches the whole world at the time of the great crisis caused by the Corona virus, the celebration of this day emphasizes the importance of tourism for the world economy. We are witnessing that travel has been stopped almost completely, which is why we emphasize the importance of domestic tourism, especially in rural areas.
The Herceg Novi hinterland and the Lustica peninsula abound in natural beauty, picturesque rural settlements, marked hiking and biking trails, exceptional climate and authentic gastronomic offer. When numerous sacral monuments are added to this, there is no doubt that we have an extremely challenging tourist offer and great potential for rural development. Mount Orjen known for endemic plant species, Vrbanj with the largest adventure park in this part of Europe located in a beech forest and built exclusively from natural materials, the villages of Žlijebi, Ubli, Mokrine, Kruševica and Kameno, on Luštica villages of authentic Mediterranean architecture Mrkovi, Kinci, Tici and the fishing village of Rose represent oases for rest and enjoyment, and immeasurable potentials precisely for tourism and rural development. Therefore, the current tourist crisis should be seen as an opportunity to return to nature guided by key motives, which are health and safety.
On World Tourism Day, we congratulate all those involved in the tourism sector with wishes to be successful in their work and gratitude for the contribution of social development and development of international relations between countries, and tourism enjoyers a future enriched with travel they will enjoy.
